PSP Launch, New stuff and The Pile
Friday, March 25th, 2005Well - someone said I should post about stuff. So here is one. Sony launched their PSP 03/24/2k5 to rave reviews, midnight openings, and a large party in California. 2 folk waited for 43 hours to be first in line. Having done something similar for Halo 2 (though only waited for about 90 minutes), I think it’s great. There are much worse things in the world to do, and I had a great time waiting with others who shared my interests.
It’ll be interesting to see how the DS and PSP compete, and if the GBA will get a new audience or continue to attract from all ranges. With rumors of the new XBox 360 coming this year, and Nintendo’s next system with touchpad controllers, it’s an exciting time. Personally, I shy away from first-generation hardware as it tends to break…see PSX and PS2’s launches! That and I like to wait for the first price drop. Nevertheless, Sony seems to have a good product in the PSP.
The games will tell….and speaking of games….if you have any means, play Resident Evil 4. I won’t bother reiterating all the game magazine’s reviews - but darn is this game amazing. I have been hammered by so many AAA titles recently that the ones that only get an A are still sitting on the pile! It’s amazing. Ys 6 is up next I think - though I’d still love to play through Gradius V, R-Type Final, Shenmue 2 and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. And original stuff like the EyeToy games and Donkey Konga are great diversions too.
And finally - what does one do with 11 XBox memory cards? Oh the dilemmas….
